Alisa Harvey is oldest female winner of Army Ten
Alisa Harvey is amazing. She demolished a series of W40 middle-distance records early this year on the track. But how to account for her victory yesterday in the Army Ten-miler in Washington? As our M45 friend Steve Nearman reports in The Washington Times: “When the 41-year-old Manassas resident seized the lead yesterday before the seven-mile mark in downtown Washington, she was about to make race history — scoring an unprecedented fourth victory and becoming the oldest female to win America's largest 10-mile race.” Think of it this way: What are the chances of an 800 man like Khadevis Robinson or a miler like Bernard Lagat entering — and winning — a major 10-mile road race? And doing it age 41? See my point? Alisa, you rock. Here’s The Washington Post report on the race. And photos of Alisa and others.
